COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR CLEANING AND DEODORIZING FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to compositions for deodorizing and cleaning, in particular solid compositions in the form of effervescent tablets that can be reconstituted in water to provide solutions for deodorizing and cleaning, and a kit comprising such tablets. The present invention further relates to methods for obtaining tablets and cleaning and deodorizing solutions and their use for cleaning and deodorizing.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Odor control is a major challenge, for example in sanitary facilities, such as urinals, toilet bowls and waste disposal facilities, such as drains, drains and trash cans or storage and disposal sites. 'waste disposal. Odors come from a wide variety of compounds and substances that are both organic and inorganic. Bad odors usually come from volatile molecules containing a wide variety of functional groups, such as sulphides, mercaptans, thioesters, acids, esters, amines, aldehydes and ketones, each associated with characteristic odors. A significant fraction of bad odors are generated by microbial fermentation processes, which results in the generation and release of such volatile components.
Numerous methods and products exist to date for controlling odors, for example those described in EP 1,213,344, DE 196 37 606, and US 6,440,926. Many of the available products, however, are not very practical to use and it may be necessary to combine multiple different products for sequential use to effectively control odors. In addition, for the most part, the available products are based on the use of biocides, for example, to eliminate odor-producing micro-organisms, which results in applications that are not environmentally friendly. In addition, often the products available only treat the consequences of unpleasant odors by masking odors, instead of eliminating the source of unpleasant odors.
In view of this, there remains a need in the art to provide improved processes and products to control and eliminate bad odors. An object of the invention is to provide such products and methods, which overcome at least part of the shortcomings of existing products and processes.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to methods and products for controlling and eliminating bad odors. The products and processes according to the invention advantageously combine the aspects of deodorization as well as cleaning by using compositions combining odor-eliminating constituents as well as cleaning components.
In one aspect, the present invention provides a tablet for deodorizing and cleaning comprising: (i) one or more Bacillus subtilis strains; (ii) one or more surfactants; (iii) one or more fragrances; (iv) one or more descaling agents; and (v) one or more effervescent agents.
The inventors were surprised to discover that the components listed above can be combined into a single solid composition such as a tablet. It was previously thought that the components listed above could not be combined in a single solid dosage form, such as a tablet, particularly because the constituents are concentrated in a solid dosage form, relative to a reconstituted liquid dosage form. In addition, the components listed above unexpectedly act synergistically to deodorize and clean. Advantageously, such a solid dosage form, in particular a tablet, is effervescent and can be reconstituted easily and rapidly in water to obtain a liquid cleaning and deodorizing solution. The solid dosage form advantageously makes it possible to formulate the cleaning and deodorizing product according to the invention so that it occupies a minimum volume, which is thus profitable with regard to transport costs. Furthermore, while the solid dosage form according to the invention is preferably intended to be reconstituted in a predetermined amount of water, higher or lower concentrations can be obtained, thus advantageously increasing the flexibility of use of the solid dosage form according to the invention, for example to treat heavily contaminated areas compared to weakly contaminated areas. Therefore, the solid dosage form according to the invention is characterized by its extreme ease of use, its flexibility of use and its unprecedented quality of use, which rely on the unexpected synergistic action of the constituents as well as on the advantageous combination of cleaning and deodorizing constituents.
In one embodiment, the tablet comprises between 106 and 1011 cfu of said one or more Bacillus subtilis strains, preferably 109 cfu of said one or more Bacillus subtilis strains. The tablet preferably has the size, dimensions and / or weight as described in the text. Therefore, in one embodiment, the tablet, preferably a 4 g tablet, comprises between 10 and 1011 cfu of said one or more Bacillus subtilis strains, preferably 109 cfu of said one or more Bacillus subtilis strains. Alternatively, in one embodiment, the tablet comprises between 10 and 1011 cfu of said one or more Bacillus subtilis strains, preferably 109 cfu of said one or more Bacillus subtilis strains per 4 g of solid dosage form. The inventors have discovered that the Bacillus strains as described herein are effective in occupying the treated space and thus prevent the infiltration, establishment and / or propagation of harmful microorganisms that produce components responsible for the generation of bad smells. On the other hand, the Bacillus strains as described herein produce various enzymes that are capable of attacking the source of the bad odor by enzymatically (ie, digesting) the compounds at the site. origin of the bad smell.
In another embodiment, said one or more fragrances are based on mint, preferably DL-menthol, delta p-mentha-1 (6), 8-dien-2-one, p-menthan- 3-one and Rp-Mentha-1,8 diene. In one embodiment, the tablet comprises between 2 and 10% by weight of said one or more fragrances, preferably 7% by weight of said one or more fragrances. The inventors were surprised, and contrary to their expectations, to discover that the fragrance as described herein can be provided in the tablet according to the invention in such high concentrations. It was not expected, in fact, that liquid fragrances could be provided in concentrations greater than 2% by weight in tablets. The provision of a fragrance in the solid dosage form according to the invention, such as a tablet, contributes advantageously and synergistically to eliminate and control bad smells. A fragrance also has a very fast, almost instantaneous effect on the control of odors.
In another embodiment, said one or more surfactants are an alkyl sulfate, preferably sodium lauryl sulfate. In one embodiment, the tablet comprises between 0.1 and 5% by weight of said one or more surfactants, preferably 4% by weight of said one or more surfactants. The provision of a surfactant in the solid dosage form according to the invention, such as a tablet, advantageously contributes to the cleaning function, such as degreasing, of compositions as described herein.
According to another embodiment, said one or more descaling agents are an organic acid, preferably citric acid. In one embodiment, the tablet comprises between 1 and 50% by weight of said one or more descaling agents, preferably 40% by weight of said one or more descaling agents. The provision of a descaling agent in the solid dosage form according to the invention, such as a tablet, advantageously and synergistically contributes to eliminating and controlling odors and contributes further to the cleaning function, such as the elimination of solid deposits resulting for example from calcification. Without wishing to confine ourselves to the theory, we believe that the compounds that cause bad odors can be trapped in or combined with such solid deposits and that the application of a descaling agent in addition to descaling can also allow to improve the effectiveness of the residual odor eliminating constituents in the solid dosage compositions as described herein.
In another embodiment, said one or more effervescent agents are a mixture that releases carbon dioxide when in contact with water, preferably a mixture comprising citric acid and sodium bicarbonate. In one embodiment, the tablet comprises between 40 and 95% by weight of said one or more effervescent agents, preferably 65% by weight of said one or more effervescent agents. The use of effervescent agents advantageously allows very rapid reconstitution of the solid dosage form, such as a tablet, as described herein. Furthermore, after dissolution, minimal or no manipulation is sufficient to ensure proper mixing of the constituents of the solid dosage compositions, particularly tablets, as described herein, so that uniform applications can be ensured with the solutions. aqueous cleaning and deodorizing agents as described herein.
In another embodiment, the diameter of the tablet is between 0.3 and 3 cm, preferably 2 cm. In one embodiment, the weight of the tablet is between 1 and 10 g, preferably 4 g. Advantageously, tablets having the size as described herein can easily be dissolved in containers which are commonly used for spraying solution applications. In addition, the weight of the tablets ensures a solid dosage form having an appropriate concentration.
In another embodiment, the tablet as described herein further comprises other compounds that enhance the incorporation of a liquid, preferably the fragrance, into the powder, such as a drier, preferably silica. smoke, such as Aerosil®. Preferably, these other products, such as drier, preferably fumed silica, are present at a concentration between 0.1 and 15% by weight, more preferably between 5 and 10% by weight. The inventors have discovered that these other compounds, such as a drier, preferably fumed silica, have a beneficial and beneficial effect on the physicochemical properties of the tablet as described herein and interact beneficially with the other components of the tablet. as described herein such that, for example, optimal dissolution, release of fragrances, etc. can be obtained.
It should be understood that not only the specific combination of the ingredients in the solid dosage form as described herein (ie Bacillus subtilis, effervescent agent, surfactant, descaling agent, fragrance and optionally other compounds which improve the incorporation of a liquid such as fragrance, with a drying agent, especially fumed silica), is unprecedented. Also the specific concentrations of each of the ingredients, also relative to each other, are unprecedented and provide a solid dosage form with deodorizing and cleaning properties and with superior physicochemical properties, among which the ability to form a tablet compact.
In another aspect, the invention relates to a method for preparing a deodorizing and cleaning solution, comprising the step of dissolving the tablet as described herein in water.
In one embodiment, the invention relates to the method for deodorizing and cleaning as described herein, comprising the step of applying the tablet as described herein or the solution obtained by dissolving the tablet, such as described here, on or in an article to deodorize and clean.
In another aspect, the invention relates to the use of the tablet, as described herein or the solution obtained by dissolving the tablet, as described herein for deodorizing and cleaning.
In another aspect, the invention relates to a kit comprising the tablet, as described herein and a container for dissolving the tablet, in a sufficient amount of water to reconstitute a deodorizing and cleaning solution.
